The moose's name actually came from the word "mus" or "moos" (from the North American Indian Family), meaning 'eater of twigs' or 'he strips off the bark'.

The Latin name for the moose is "Alces alces."

This species in total is divided up into four groups, the Eastern Canadian Moose, the Alaskan(Tundra) Moose, the Shiras(Wyoming) Moose, and the Western Canadian Moose.

Most commonly when you think of where a moose would be, you think of Canada. As of right Canada has a moose population of a little bit over 850,000.

The moose population is native in nearly all Northern Forest regions such as, Northern Europe, Northern America, and colder parts of Asia. Moose are commonly found around lakes or ponds, streams and swamps, i.e., most conditions.

I hope you enjoyed my first post, and look forward to reading my other. I hope you learned something today about moose, that you did not know before. Bye, and have a great rest of your day!
